This event is the largest balloon festival in Texas and over 75,000 people were expected to attend. The events included multiple balloon launches throughout the weekend along with skydiver acts and other aerial performances. However, my favorite event of the day was the balloon glow. During sunset, all the participating balloons inflate while anchored to the ground. The show began at 8pm where every few minutes or so all balloons would synchronously fire their burners creating a beautiful glow inside the balloons.

I got a chance to snap a few pictures of the event. Enjoy!

Currently, the most noteworthy couples include such pairings as:

  • “Bennifer” – Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez
  • “TomKat” – Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
  • “Brangelina” – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
  • “Jate” – Jack and Kate from ‘Lost’
  • “LoVe” – Logan and Veronica Mars
  • and even “Billary” – Bill and Hilary Clinton

Wikipedia lists the standards that define a Supercouple:

Couples that merit such a title include:

  • Mania (significant press, media attention, etc. being placed on the couple, having to do with charm)
  • Labeled a supercouple by valid sources
  • Notable impact (having defined the medium by either Number 1 criteria cited above or by becoming a defacto symbol for its genre)
  • Listed as an all-time top romance (this usually applying to television, film and video game couples)

Each of these examples has been identified by scholars, critics and press as defining a supercouple.

Luckily, we have just such a person that meets the above standards on BairdBlog!
